Ask the Staff
Question:
In August of 2005 Hurricane Katrina came through and put down a
number of trees on my place. I cut them into logs and fire wood and
got the logs cut into lumber. Now when I start to use some of the
lumber I find that beetles have made holes and trails in it. What can
I do to protect this lumber from further damage by the beetles?
Thanks,
Roy Moore
Answer:
Roy,
My guess is you have to kill them to prevent further damage. Hope you have
no objection to that. While I am not a specialist in pest control,
there is a lot of information on the Internet. A quick search turned
up this informative website:
http://www.pestproducts.com/woodbeetleproducts.htm
Look like there is more than one way to rid yourself of those beetles.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your question!
