Here's My Workshop!

I first ventured into woodworking in junior high and continued in high school under a wonderful and
patient wood shop teacher. After finishing high school, I left woodworking behind for nearly 30
years until my early medical retirement from Du Pont in 1997 reignited my interest.
Thanks to the internet and PBS TV (i.e. Norm!) I got myself up to speed on the latest techniques and
technologies and began an 8 year process of acquiring the basic tools I would need.
My main interest in woodworking is probably in furniture but I hope to be an avid wood
turner one day.
Here are some pictures of our new woodworking shop that was built 6 months after Hurricane Katrina.
I decided this would be a wonderful idea to help us overcome the mental damage that awful storm
caused us and to help start a new chapter in our lives and I can tell you all it has worked just
fine.

These pictures show where my woodworking began, in the old shop. It's hard to believe that I used
to keep all of my woodworking equipment in here.

Here's a view of the pneumatic lift roll around table as well as the clamp and wood storage area.

The first photo shown above is my restored 24" bandsaw. I found this bandsaw on a cotton farm in Greenville, MS. I purchased
my drill press on ebay - it is a restored 20" variable speed and it weighs 770 lbs so it is very stable! Last is my
Powermatic PM2000 tablesaw and storage.
