Here's My Woodcarving!
by Peter Mohr
Charlotte, North Carolina
About a year ago I decided to learn to do relief carving to add some interest to my furniture projects.
It turned out I like carving as much as building furniture, and have started working on some original designs.
In the past I have done some spoon carving and
whittling. I'm retired so I do get to spend a fair amount of time on my hobbies.
I get to Atlanta occasionally and always stop by your store. Wish I was closer so I could take advantage of some of your classes!
This is a cabin in the mountains just outside of Boone, NC.
It measures 13" x 20" and is carved in 8/4 Cherry.
The "Bird of Paradise" is carved in a redwood slab I got from a local sawyer.
The "Tree of Life" was first cut out on a scroll saw, then carved and applied to a carved backer.
The "Fern" is a "real" relief.
