Here's My Woodcarving!

My very first carving was some decorative work on pieces of furniture. I then did
some "whittling" projects like a chain and a ball in a box. Next I tried some Norwegian love spoons
and finally ended the whittling phase with a chain made from a match stick.
I tried some Nativity scenes upon urging from my wife who "thought I could do it". I got advice
from a carver friend who told me to get the books by
Helen Gibson
. After
three Nativity sets I tried a couple of Native American faces and then the hand. I have quite an
assortment of knives and chisels, too numerous to list.
>Carved from basswood on walnut base (removable). Just for fun, I decided to do a life sized replica
of my left hand. My wife is not fond of it. She says it looks too much like a cadaver.
I’m just an amateur carver. I do lots of other types of woodworking: furniture, turning, violins.
