A Way to Improve Table Saw Safety
When I am working alone in my shop, I find that often times when using my table saw I need both hands. A piece of wood
sometimes gets caught in the blade and will kick back. When this happens some woodworkers try to
hold the wood with one hand and reach for the switch with the other, which is not really a safe scenario.
What
I have done is to take an old sewing machine foot switch and installed it to operate the on-off
switch so that both of my hands can stay on the project as I now safely turn off the saw by just touching
the foot pedal. Installing this may sound like a lot of work but if you've ever had a situation like this, you will
know that it is was well worth the little extra effort that it took to install it.
