Here are some photos of my newly completed shop. It took 3 years to get the city to permit due to liquification zone issues (earthquakes), but I am now operational. The shop is primarily built to build a 30' wooden schooner.
The big white floor is painted plywood temporarily placed over car decking over concrete. The plywood is used to loft (draw out) the boat full size in order to make patterns. The jointer, planer and primary band saw are set mid shop so I can run 25' timbers thru. The dimensions of the shop are roughly 32' x 55', with a 16' ceiling height.
The building includes electric heat, full insulation, a 12x14 door, and a 24" thick foundation w/14,000 lbs of rebar (again... liquification zone). I also put in a bathroom with shower.
One band saw is for milling and one is for detail work. One bench is for basic work and one bench is a planking bench (with associated chisels, knee vise, etc).
