I am a professional maker of violins, violas and cellos. The photo shows the small bench where 90% of my work takes place. The tool chest on the left holds planes, marking and measuring tools, various parts and an assortment of clamping forms for my instruments. Files, knives and gouges are in the rack at the back of the bench. Much of the work is very precise and requires controlled, directional lighting. On the right is a small cabinet that protects my stereo from shop dust.
I make around 8 instruments a year working full time. They are concert quality instruments and go to serious music students, professionals and dedicated amateur players. My work is inspired by the best classic Italian makers.
