Growing up, I learned traditional woodworking and woodcarving in a special school in Europe where they teach you all of the aspects of designing furniture, and how to hand carve the traditional way in many different styles like baroque, renaissance, and biedermeier, just to name a few.
I started my business in 1996 and designed my shop to be able to open in the same way as a two car garage in order to easily move furniture in and out of my shop. Most of the time I hand carve the pieces in my shop and then I work with shops who have a larger space once I am ready to set up my bigger pieces like sets of dining room furniture and long tables.
Our business designs special custom hand carved pieces and unique architectural elements. I sit down with my customers and listen to their desires. After getting their ideas I make a few sketches from which they choose one. This sketch is then used to make a shop drawing and from there I start the process of fabricating the actual piece of art or furniture.
Most of the photos below are of a custom designed and carved half round Oak Fire Place Mantel.
The size of my shop is 24' wide by 30' long with a cathedral ceiling that has special trusses for my taller pieces.
