Safety Tip: Leave your Stress Outside the Shop
I have a 2" long scar on my left knee from a woodcarving knife. Caused by too many other things going on in my life and the fact those things kept creeping into my mind and causing me to lose concentration on what I was doing. I was also in a hurry hogging off too much wood with the knife when the wood split and the knife cut my knee. I was fortunate that my lack of attentiveness only resulted in a few stitches. Since this incident I have conditioned myself to clear my thoughts of whatever was on my mind before I enter the shop. This has accomplished 2 things: made me work safer in the shop and also increased my enjoyment and relaxation while in the shop as I have left all my stress outside. Sometimes it's hard or impossible to do. That's when I walk away and come back later.
