I am a 100% disabled veteran in a wheelchair and was bored out of my mind. I, like most people in wheelchairs, have a lot of extra time on my hands, so my girlfriend told me to get a hobby. I also had to convince myself that I could do it and to quit feeling sorry for myself. Now I enjoy getting out and going to shows and fairs. I sometimes even put a booth out.
I remember, when I was about 10 years old, building a shoe polish box in 4H and enjoying that, so I started to read about and study woodworking as my hobby. I thought Intarsia would require the least tools (coping saw, skil saw, and a lot of sandpaper) so that is where I started. I soon had a shop full of tools and was also doing furniture design, repair, and building. Intarsia is still my first love but I really enjoy building anything from a small inlaid box to a house. Though some things require more planning than others....
One of the hardest things was learning to hand carve the Cabriole legs on each of the projects below and make them look at least close to the same.
