Safety Tip: Power Controlling Switch
When I built my modest but workable shop in the basement of my home, my daughter was only two years old. After powering up my shop, I installed a switch that shut off all the power to my woodworking equipment. This switch was located very high in the shop where only an adult could reach, and that with some effort for my wife. I did leave a switch for the lights and for recharging my tools but no machine could be run without first flipping that switch. We have had children in the house and they played in the basement but there was never a worry about them getting hurt in the shop.
