I have a very minimalist shop and prefer to work
with tools that can be found in the average home shop. I feel that my
philosophy is well suited to folks who want to maximize their results
with a minimum expenditure on equipment. My workshop is contained in one
quarter of a 2-1/2 car garage (a 24 foot by 8 foot area) with lumber storage on wall racks on the
"car side" of the garage.
All tools are on wheels so I can use the
additional area by simply pulling a car out and using the open area as my
work space.
I first developed an interest in woodworking about 30 years ago as a
sideline to my main interest, musical instruments. My first serious
woodworking project resulted from the desire to have a good acoustic
guitar, which was beyond my ability to purchase at the time. I realized
that they were in fact made by mere mortals such as myself, so I
purchased the only two books I could find relating to guitar
construction and made a pretty acceptable first instrument, still being
played today by my daughter.
Since that time I've branched out and made many various types of musical
instruments as well as a large portion of our home furnishings.
