The Veterans Freedom Center was started in December 2010 by Veterans wanting to share a place with other veterans and provide the camaraderie and respect we all had earned while serving our great country.
While proposing what activities we would offer, the subject of scroll sawing came about. A few experienced scroll sawers who were veterans shared how the activity provided stress relief, pride in accomplishment, and entertainment in their lives. It was very therapeutic for those dealing with stress and those diagnosed with PTSD.
These veterans were willing to train other vets, obtained donations for the purchase of scroll saws and supplies and worked along with a business specializing in scroll sawing.
Today our scrollsaw Shop has 6 scrollsaws and workstations, 2 mini lathes, 1 full size lathe, various mechanized sanders, joiners, planers, band and circular saws and much more. All of these tools have been obtained through personal, private, and business donations to our Veterans Freedom Center.
