Excellent & Inexpensive Shelf Pin Drilling Jig Perfection Is Overrated Get Ready For Winter Woodworking...The Right Way!

But to start it all off, Steve has come up with nearly scientific proof that the many beards of woodworking indicate the rise in popularity of our craft.

Sanding Technique:
Using a Trace Coat By Jeffrey Fleisher New Market, Virginia Knowing where to sand and for how long is a perplexing issue for many woodworkers. A technique called Trace Coating shows you where you need to sand and when you can stop using a particular grit of sandpaper. I recently used this technique while sanding six scooped seats for a cherry dining room table and chair set. CLICK HERE to learn the art of using a trace coat:
Ask the Staff
Question: The back of my heirloom oak dining chair is broken, and I'd like to repair it (I have all the pieces). Which glue should I use? I see a number of products on your website, but I don't know which one will do the job. I need a way of making the repaired area sturdy, yet not so obviously "glued back together."
Finishing Wood
with Alan Noel Decorative Painting During the last few years we've seen a lot more furniture with decorative paint finishes in the shop. French and Italian furniture seem to dominate with many different techniques employed producing some very interesting effects. Here are SEVEN tips to get started:

Book Review:
Furniture in the Southern Style
By J. Norman Reid Delaplane, Virginia Though I'm an Ohio-born and raised Yankee at root, I've lived well over half my life below the Mason-Dixon line. And perhaps for this reason, I’ve developed a growing affinity for southern furniture and decorative arts. And so, when Lang and Huey's recent compilation of furniture drawings drawn from the massive holdings of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) was released, I was quick to order a copy.
