Safety Tip: Unexpected Shop Guests - An Alternative
I was reading the
Unexpected Shop Guests Safety Tip
from the August 2013 issue of Wood News Online.
My safety suggestion would be slightly different:
-
Fit a flashing red light in a visible place in your shop, like those found on emergency vehicles.
-
Fit a button at the entrance to your Workshop.
-
Place a sign on the entrance doorway “Dangerous work in progress – Please press button to gain access.”
-
Lock the door.
When a visitor comes and they find the door locked, they should read the notice and press the button to gain your attention. This works better than a chained doorway, especially, for woodworkers who also dally in welding.
