New Rikon 10" Bandsaw
Only $199.99, save $80!

This little gem has already proven itself to be an excellent value as a 10" bandsaw, especially at this low introductory price. In our tests at the store, we installed a Wood Slicer resawing blade on the Rikon 10-305 bandsaw, carefully adjusted all the guides, then proceeded to resaw uniform slices 1/64" thick off the length of a 4x4. We highly recommend it as your first bandsaw bought on a budget, or as a second bandsaw that allows you to avoid constantly swapping blades on your main bandsaw.

You'll Love our Mail-In Blade Sharpening Service

"Recently I used your saw sharpening service and I wanted to let you know that they did a super job on my blade. I not only needed the blade sharpened, but one tip was missing and they replaced it as well. Turn around time was only about a week from my home in Tennessee. The blade cuts as good as a new one. You can bet that I will be using you again when needed."

In this month's Down To Earth Woodworker , Steven Johnson reviews some of your responses to his Shooting Board article, and explains why one would use a shooting board at all. A Trip to Lie-Nielsen Toolworks

In July, Highland Woodworking owner Chris Bagby and a couple of Highland staffers headed up to Maine for the first Lie-Nielsen Toolworks dealer training workshop. I have a piece of wood I'd like to salvage. It is about 24" x 6" and varies from 1/2" thick at one end to about 5/8" thick at the other. What is the easiest way to mill this to 1/2" from end to end?

Commodity, Firmness
& Delight

By Wallace Macfarlane

This intriguing article by Wallace Macfarlane first appeared in Wood News No. 18 in the fall of 1986. In it he examines the notion of the artist's 'eye', and how it applies to woodworking craftsmanship. We've also included a thought-provoking response to the article that ran in the following issue of Wood News , written by Jack Tuberville, a reader who believes the eye is less important than the enjoyment.

Which is more important to you?

Recent WOOD SLICER Testimonial
I recently purchased three band saw blades for my 10 inch Inca 260, included in the purchase was a Wood Slicer Bandsaw Blade. When I unwrapped it, I realized this was something special. I immediately installed the Wood Slicer, fired up the machine and started cutting 6 " X 6" White Oak rough stock. Results? WOW, is all I could say to myself. The cuts were so good I had to look twice to see the cut side from the machine planed face! What a blade, I have never been more pleased with a bandsaw blade and its performance! — R. Simon
